Before the event

If you would like to take part in the event, you are strongly encouraged to make contact with the Local Organiser for your local church or chapel in the first instance.

Riders and Striders

Cyclists, Walkers, Horse Riders and Wheelchair users are all welcome to take part in this event.

You can be sponsored either by the number of churches you visit or by flat donations. Please take note of the "Safety advice to Riders and Walkers" on the sponsor form.

There is no fixed route: you can explore as much (or as little) of the Sussex as you wish - and cross in adjacent counties as well.

Each church and chapel has been assigned a "star rating" representing the difficulty of reaching that church (ranging from 1 for a church in town to 5 for a remote church). A trophy is awarded to the individual and team who attain the most stars during the day. (There are separate trophies for walkers and riders).

Some Local Authorities in Sussex publish maps and other resources for Walkers and Cyclists. Please refer to our links page for details. In addition, a map is available of all churches and chapels in the Chichester area - your Local Organiser will be able to get you a copy.

Registrars

If you are unable to tour round the churches and chapels yourself, you can still gain sponsorship through acting as a registrar/recorder for your local church. You can be sponsored either by the number of visitors you welcome or for the amount of hours you are on duty.

More details can be found in the Registrars' Sponsor form.
